Scam or Opportunity?Scroll Up
Dear All, I wonder if any of you out there has also recieved all those invitations from Nigeria, Ivory Cost, South Africa etc originated mostly from Yahoo address inviting to close a highly confidential business deal? Background refers to finacial transaction of large sums of funds in certain accounts without any ownership? If yes does anyone know any background? Has any one out there made a fortune or burnt fingures out of this affair? Would surely like to hear comments from oilpatch people.

Thanks.

This scam has been going on for years and has attracted the attention of the FBI and US State Dept. They can't seem to stop it.

Sounds Like A ScamScroll Up
Yes, I've got to agree with the other two posts...usually unsolicited mail is sent by scam artists.

I've read countless articles of people losing their hard-earned life-savings in this manner.

The perpetrators send out mass e-mails in the hope that those who are new to the internet will send them money. There was a Time (Newsweek?) article about this a couple of weeks ago...exposing some huge rip-off operations in Thailand.

The Thai government seems to be trying to crack down on them though. But the perpetrators usually skip town and set up shop in a new underdeveloped country.

Regards,
Da'oud

Jason, don't mess with it.This is an old nigerian scam that has been used for many years.Originally it came inthe form of a letter, but now with computer advances, the scammers use the e-mail.In Nigeria there is a statute called Rule 419,on which they can be reported and prosecuted. They give you some hard luck stories don't they? I sometimes reasond by saying;send me a cashiers cheque/draft for US$25,000 to prove your integrity, before I send you my Bank details;.You will not here from them again.
